Diamtd Medical announced that it has received fast-track approval from the FDA to accelerate bringing their breakthrough therapy to the US market. This therapy uses injections of GAD65 to protect insulin production in people newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Recipients must test positive for a specific gene found in approximately 40% of people with type 1 diabetes. In clinical trials, Diamyd’s therapy has demonstrated its potential to halt or slow the progression of type 1 diabetes.
